Verrelli, Houghtaling & Reynolds-Jackson Bill to Require Bidders for State Contracts to Disclose Violations Approved by Assembly
(TRENTON) – Aiming to ensure responsible businesses are awarded state contracts, legislation (A-801) to require bidders or businesses seeking state contracts to disclose prior violations of any federal, state or local labor or employment law, rule or regulation in the past two years was approved Monday by the full Assembly, 73-0.
Bill sponsors, Assembly Democrats Anthony Verrelli (D-Mercer, Hunterdon), Eric Houghtaling (D-Monmouth) and Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (D-Mercer, Hunterdon) released the following joint statement:
“When a business receives a contract to do work for the state, we expect that business to be professional and responsible. By requiring bidders to disclose violations, we will be more informed of their company’s work history and track record of ensuring the health and safety of employees working under state contracts.”
