Walmart and NJ Department of Health Go Mobile to Keep Communities Healthy

Trenton NJ (SEPT. 29, 2022) – Walmart and the New Jersey Department of Health will kick off a nine-city, health and wellness tour, beginning on Monday, October 3. Each of these free, community events will feature an 18-foot, Walmart Wellness trailer, complete with four clinical exam rooms.

 

Walmart pharmacists will offer free, CDC-approved, COVID-19 vaccines and boosters for adults as well as for children five and older. In addition, there will be free health screenings, pharmacist consultations, and eyeglass adjustments and cleanings. And, a variety of low-cost immunizations and the flu vaccine will be available for patients who are 10 and older. Patients should bring insurance cards if they have one, though that’s not required.

 

The events will include:

 

Monday, October 3  (Mercer and Ocean counties)

  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Trenton, Thomas Edison State University, Kelsey building, at 111 W. State Street
  • 4 – 7 p.m.: Lakewood, Lakewood High School, 855 Somerset Ave.

 

Tuesday, October 4 (Middlesex County)

  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.:  Perth Amboy,  Alexander F. Jankowski Community Center,  1 Olive St.
  • 4 – 7 p.m.: New Brunswick, St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 293 Somerset St.

 

Wednesday, October 5 (Union County)

  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Plainfield, Plainfield City Hall, 515 Watchung Ave.
  • 4 – 7 p.m.: Elizabeth, Elizabeth Public Library, 11 S Broad St.

 

Thursday, October 6 (Passaic County)

  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Paterson, Father English Food Pantry, 435 Main St.
  • 4 – 7 p.m.: Passaic, Passaic City Hall, 330 Passaic St. (William St. parking lot)

 

Friday, October 7 (Essex County)

  • 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.: Newark, Weequahic Park, Elizabeth Ave. and Meeker Ave.

 

Since being launched, Walmart’s seven Mobile Wellness trailers have provided health and wellness access to more than 100,000 people nationwide.

 

“Health and wellness services are most effective when we they are easily accessible by those in need.” said Jennifer Hoehn, director Walmart. “Health care delivery is something Walmart is always innovating through not just our mobile units, but our pharmacies and virtual care programs. Our goal is to offer care for our customers when and where they need it.”

 

“Being up-to-date with your COVID-19 vaccines – including the new, updated booster – plus getting your annual flu shot, will keep you protected as the weather gets colder and the holidays approach,” said New Jersey Department of Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli. “Community wellness efforts like this bring services directly to residents and their families, while increasing access and availability.”

 

WHAT:

  • All approved, COVID-19 vaccines, both for adults and children (ages 5+)
  • Low-cost immunizations and the flu vaccine (ages 10+)
  • Health screenings, including blood pressure measurement and BMI calculation
  • Consultations with licensed pharmacists to review prescriptions and over-the-counter medications, discuss possible interactions and side effects, and consider alternatives and money-saving options
  • Eyeglass adjustments and cleanings
