(WHITE TOWNSHIP, NJ, March 26, 2021) – In the last several weeks there has been an increasing amount of literature disseminated throughout Warren County to County residents and on the internet, in the form of flyers, posters and social media posts replete with inaccurate, misleading and categorically false allegations against the County of Warren and the Board of County Commissioners as it pertains to child, sexual and domestic abuse.

Many of the allegations deliberately distort the positions that have been consistently taken by this Board of County Commissioners as a whole and by each of the Commissioners individually, in an attempt to portray the County and its elected officials as being indifferent to the prevention of child abuse and other forms of sexual and domestic abuse, justice for victims of sexual abuse, and covering up and protecting those responsible for committing such disgusting and morally reprehensible acts. Other allegations attempt to attribute this conduct to the presently constituted Board of Commissioners as well as current County employees.

Each and every one of these allegations is categorically and unequivocally false. The events that are alleged to have occurred all took place approximately 40 years ago. This was, of course, at least several decades before any of the current County Commissioners were in office, old enough to run for office and, in fact, before one Commissioner was even born.

Contrary to the allegations, the County of Warren and this Board of County Commissioners have been steadfast and unwavering in the commitment to prevent all forms of child and domestic abuse. Aside from having been active in supporting State, Federal and local initiatives for the prevention of child and domestic abuse as evidenced by years of resolutions and proclamations, the County also has taken independent action in furtherance of these initiatives. This has included allocating funding and resources for programs run or administered through the County Government and the Prosecutor’s Office, as well as nonprofit organizations and other private and public programs dedicated to these worthy ideals. Furthermore, the County of Warren has implemented strict zero tolerance policies and procedures for the reporting, investigation and prevention of any and all forms of child, sexual and domestic abuse.

The events that are alleged to have occurred are with regard to the actions of the former County Officials and is currently the subject of litigation. The Warren County Board of Commissioners trusts that justice will be served.
