Warren RMC Treasurer Mehul Desai Launches Somerset County Republicans of Indian Origin (SCRIO) Coalition

A new coalition of Indian American residents in Somerset County has been established to support conservative candidates in upcoming local elections. Somerset County Republicans of Indian Origin (SCRIO) was formed by Warren Township resident Mehul Desai with the mission to advocate for candidates who embody traditional Republican values, including fiscal conservatism, strong support for law enforcement, and government efficiency. The coalition will actively campaign for individuals who are committed to these principles and who will work to ensure that Somerset County remains a safe, affordable place to call home.

Desai currently serves on the Warren K-8 Board of Education and was recently elected as the District 3 Republican County Committeeman in Warren and as Treasurer of the Warren Republican Municipal Committee. He formed SCRIO as part of his efforts to foster greater political engagement among the Indian American community in Somerset County.

“The issues that are important to Indian Americans are the same ones that are important to all Americans – affordability, quality education, and public safety,” said Desai. “As Republicans, we know that our policies lead to positive results for hardworking families and we look forward to organizing our community around these shared values.”

SCRIO will begin its efforts this election cycle by hosting meet-and-greets with candidates for local office and assisting with Get Out The Vote efforts. Those interested in learning more about the group can contact Desai at SCRIOnj@gmail.com.
“Towns all throughout Somerset County, including right here in Warren, have storied histories of strong Republican leadership which has resulted in this being one of the most desirable places to live in the state,” added Desai. “We are excited to continue that tradition in November and do our part to elect Republicans throughout Somerset County.”
