Wimberly: “Women and People of Color Deserve

A Seat at the Table”

(TRENTON) – Following today’s meeting of the Joint Committee on Economic Justice and Employment Opportunity to discuss advancing women and minorities in business, committee co-chair Assemblyman Benjie Wimberly (D-Bergen, Passaic) released the following statement:

“Far too often, women and minority-owned enterprises are overlooked for state business opportunities. These disparities undermine businesses owned by women and minorities and limit their potential for growth.

“Women and people of color deserve a seat at the table. It’s time for us to come up with real solutions to address this issue. By engaging with our local chambers of commerce, improving existing data resources and finding ways to encourage minority applicants, we can get closer to eliminating certain obstacles for these businesses. Today’s hearing was a critical step forward for us to ensure women and minority-owned businesses have a chance to grow and thrive across New Jersey.”
