32BJ-SEIU Endorses Analilia Mejia For Congress

NEWARK – Today, Analilia Mejia — a longtime union organizer and Democratic candidate for Congress in NJ-11 — announced the endorsement of 32BJ-SEIU, the largest property services union in the state.

32BJ-SEIU represents over 15,000 security officers, janitors, airport workers and cafeteria workers across New Jersey. In their endorsement, 32BJ-SEIU cited Analilia’s record of securing paid sick leave, a $15 minimum wage, and wage theft protections for workers all across New Jersey, as well as her experience as a senior staff member in the U.S. Department of Labor.

“Analilia Mejia is the best choice for New Jersey’s working families,” said Ana Maria Hill, State Director for 32BJ-SEIU.  “As the daughter of immigrants, a former 32BJ political director, and a lifelong union and grassroots organizer, she knows firsthand what working people are up against, because she’s lived it. She’s delivered real victories, from the fight for a $15 minimum wage to expanding paid sick leave in New Jersey. Our members chose to support her because they trust she’ll bring that same courage and commitment to Congress. We’re proud to stand with her.”

“When my mother got a union job at a factory in New York, it changed our family’s life,” said Analilia Mejia. “That union job paid her a livable wage and gave us access to healthcare — but more importantly, it empowered her to fight so others could have the same things. That’s the lesson I’ve carried with me since, and it’s why I’m so proud to earn the endorsement of 32BJ. As your Congresswoman, I’ll take that lesson straight to Washington: standing up to corruption and a rigged economy so working people finally have a shot at an affordable life.”

Mejia enters the race with a surge of grassroots energy and a clear mandate to fight for working families across NJ-11, having earned the endorsements of Senator Bernie Sanders and Newark Mayor Ras Baraka within a week of her launch.

The primary election is on February 5, 2026.
