ASSEMBLYMAN ALLEN APPLAUDS THREE HEALTHCARE BILLS PASSED BY NJ ASSEMBLY, HEAD TO STATE SENATE

Assemblyman John Allen today celebrated the full passage of three bills through the New Jersey Assembly that he sponsored or co-sponsored during the legislative session.

"It was a big moment for the State Assembly to pass three milestone bills that, if enacted into law, would substantially improve healthcare for countless New Jersyians," said Assemblyman John Allen. "Unlike the Trump White House and Republican Congress, we are working diligently to create a more affordable and stronger healthcare system which countless New Jerseyans depend on to survive. I am optimistic that the State Senate will pass all three bills and Governor Murphy will sign them into law in the coming weeks."

The Alzheimer's bill, Assembly Bill No. 2490 would require the NJ Department of Human Services to establish a public awareness campaign of Alzheimer's disease and the importance of early detection and possible treatments. This would include the development of educational materials to be made available through local boards of health, physicians, hospitals, and clinics, as well as the training of emergency responders to assist them in recognizing the symptoms of Alzheimer's disease. Assemblyman Allen is a prime sponsor of the bill.

Assembly Bill No. 4838 would require health insurance carriers to eliminate bureaucracy by allowing continued coverage for prescription drugs prescribed to individuals with serious mental illness, regardless of prior authorization, during the postpartum period. Assemblyman Allen is a co-sponsor of the bill.

Assembly Bill No. 2940 provides support to pediatric special care nursing facilities by establishing a minimum Medicaid and NJ FamilyCare reimbursement rate. These nursing facilities provide specialized, long-term care and rehabilitation to medically fragile children and youth. Assemblyman Allen is a co-sponsor of the bill.
