Nearly 10,000 members strong, the union is one of the largest CWA Locals in the country and represents the largest number of CWA members residing in the 11th District
NEWARK – Analilia Mejia — a longtime grassroots organizer, former director of the New Jersey Working Families Alliance, and Democratic candidate for Congress in NJ-11 — announced today the endorsement of CWA Local 1037, representing 10,000 workers across northern New Jersey.
In their endorsement, CWA Local 1037 praised Analilia’s record of taking on powerful politicians to protect workers.
"CWA Local 1037 is proud to endorse Analilia Mejia for Congress,” said Ken McNamara, President of CWA 1037. “At a time when working families need a true champion in Washington, we could ask for no greater ally and friend than Analilia. Whether it’s the fight for workers’ rights, paid family leave, affordable healthcare, or a living wage, Analilia has always stood with the working people of New Jersey."
“I’m proud to have the support of my union brothers and sisters in CWA 1037. These workers know better than anyone what type of leadership we need in government,” said Analilia Mejia.
As a progressive voice in the community, CWA Local 1037 is known to aggressively support candidates who fight for working families with both resources and volunteers.
Mejia enters the race as the progressive favorite with a clear mandate to save democracy and unrig the economy. She earned the endorsements of Senator Bernie Sanders and Newark Mayor Ras Baraka within a week of her launch.
The primary election is on February 5, 2026.
