DEAN DAFIS MOVES TO THE TOP FOLLOWING MORRIS COUNTY SCREENING
MAPLEWOOD, N.J. - Following the Morris County Democratic Committee’s pre-screening process, only one grassroots, progressive candidate made the top-tier with a “Strong Recommendation”--Dean Dafis.
“We’ve built a campaign infrastructure in record-breaking time for a grassroots campaign–and the momentum has only just begun,” explained Dean. “As Morris County Democratic County Committee Members prepare to cast their ranked choice ballot on Sunday, I ask to be your first choice. And if you feel passionate about another candidate, that’s okay too, I ask that you rank me second and send New Jersey’s first LGBTQ+ representative with a bold policy agenda to Congress.”
Only three candidates appeared before Dean, each of whom have strong institutional support. “We are all hoping for a better, more equitable district,” said Dean, “Our next Representative must stand up for working-class families who are struggling to afford staying in the communities we love. I’ve released a bold policy agenda for day one and am ready to hit the ground running.”
Dean realizes that there is even more than affordability on the line in this Special Primary. “This is the foundation of our Democratic Party. And we have to select a candidate who is ready to meet neighbors where they’re at and has lived the struggles of the middle class. I am proud to be that candidate.”
The screening committee assessed candidates on vision, readiness to serve, policy knowledge, and campaign strategy and viability. The official endorsement will be determined by CD11 voting members at the Special Election Nominating Convention on December 14.
