Lonegan Letter to the New Jersey Republican State Committee

Dear Members of the New Jersey Republican State Committee,

This election for Party Chairman is not a routine leadership contest. It is a reckoning—and a warning.
At a moment when New Jersey families are fighting to preserve their communities, protect their schools, and secure their economic survival, certain candidates for the NJGOP Chairmanship, along with entrenched party insiders and their allies, are advancing policies that threaten to complete the collapse of the New Jersey Republican Party.

Among these proposals is forced busing and statewide open enrollment deceptively branded as “school choice,” a policy that would allow students to attend any public school anywhere in New Jersey. Despite the pleasant rhetoric surrounding it, the consequences are clear and deeply troubling. This approach strips parents and local taxpayers of control over their schools, destabilizes community districts, and risks substantial increases in property taxes alongside declining property values across the state.

What makes this particularly alarming is that these ideas are being promoted by the very individuals who have overseen repeated electoral losses and organizational decline. Continuing down this path of business as usual will not revive the NJGOP—it will finish it. The Republican grassroots are paying close attention, and they will not support a party that compromises parental rights, undermines local communities, or advances left-wing policies under the guise of reform. There will be consequences for ignoring them.

If establishment forces impose this direction on the party, the result will not be unity but fracture. Worse still, it will provoke the very outcome they fear most: a statewide revolt and the emergence of third-party challengers ready to fill the leadership vacuum the GOP has refused to confront. This is the final opportunity to choose a different course—a stronger course rooted in true conservative principles.
I am the only candidate prepared to confront this destructive agenda directly. I am the only one willing to challenge entrenched power structures, as I have done before, to defend taxpayers, protect local schools, and restore discipline, accountability, and integrity to a party that has been coasting on excuses for far too long. I am not seeking to manage continued decline. I am running to stop it.

The decision before each State Committee member is straightforward:

Do you want a party that bends—or a party that leads

2. Do you want a party that speaks conservative values—or one that fights to uphold them?
Do you want a movement that grows—or one that splinters under the weight of its own fear and failure?

This is the choice, and these are the consequences. New Jersey cannot afford another lost decade. Neither can the Republican Party.

For the future of our state and our party, I urge you to support my candidacy for NJGOP Chairman. Stand with courage. Stand with conviction.

The direction you choose now will define the New Jersey Republican Party for a generation.

On to victory,
Steve Lonegan
