Piscataway Pulls the Plug on Pop-Up Parties

Township Council Votes 5-2 to

Lower Allowable Decibel Levels,

Penalize Promoters of Unregistered Parties

Out of control pop-up parties. People renting houses and inviting hundreds of people to charge them admission and make money. Neighbors being kept awake all through the night. It has to stop!

That is why the Piscataway Township Council passed a measure on Tuesday night on a 5-2 vote to boost the ability of the Piscataway Township Police Department to stop them. Sound levels have to be lower and people can be cited for aiding & abetting these unauthorized parties.

Voting in favor of the measure were Council President Dennis Espinosa (Ward 2), Council Vice President Michele Lombardi (Ward 4), Councilmember Gabrielle Cahill (At-Large), Councilmember Sharon Carmichael (Ward 3) & Councilmember Frank Uhrin (Ward 1).

Voting against the measure were Councilmember Laura Leibowitz (At-Large) & Councilmember Sarah Rashid (At-Large).
