SEIU NJ State Council endorses Analilia Mejia in Special Election for CD 11
Citing her national and grassroots leadership and proven commitment to working families
Newark – The SEIU New Jersey State Council endorses Analilia Mejia for Congress in the Special election for CD 11. The SEIU NJ State Council representing over 20,000 essential workers in health care, warehouse distribution centers, industrial laundries, public services and related sectors believes Ms. Mejia is the battle-tested leader needed in Washington to bring policies that lift up working families and strengthen communities.
“We are proud to endorse Analilia Mejia in her bid for Congress,” said Megan Chambers, President of the SEIU NJ State Council. “As a fellow labor leader, with an outstanding track record, Analilia has our whole-hearted support. Analilia understands firsthand the struggles and aspirations of working families, and has been a non-stop champion devoted to advancing economic justice, workers’ rights, and equity for communities too often overlooked.”
“Her record speaks for itself,” added Latenya King, Vice President of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East. “Analilia’s work helped raise New Jersey’s minimum wage to $15 per hour, expand statewide paid sick leave, and strengthen protections for workers and immigrants. Her national recognition—including being named a ‘Champion of Change’ by President Obama—along with her service in the Biden administration and her success leading statewide grassroots campaigns, demonstrate her ability to build consensus and deliver results. We could not ask for a stronger champion for working families in Washington.”
