Sherrill Drops in on Randolph

RANDOLPH - To find the pulse of New Jersey - or at least average people - it's wise to visit a diner.

Mikie Sherrill knows that.

That's why Thursday found her dropping into the Randolph Diner on Route 10 in this Morris County town.

Upon arrival, the Gov-elect discovered there was a local Chamber of Commerce meeting ongoing at the same time. So some of the Chamber crowd came over to say hello.

The visit was framed as a "listening tour" and Sherrill spent time chatting with regular patrons.

Things turned out to have a bipartisan touch.

A photo of the event on Sherrill's Facebook page shows a number of local Republican council members joining her for a group shot.

Randolph is quite the "purple" town.

The seven-member council is all Republican, but Democrats do well here when it comes to state and federal elections.

For example, Sherrill won the township by about 1,200 votes over Jack Ciattarelli.

Sherrill's office says there will be more diner tours in the future.
