Smith Statement on Resolution Condemning EPA Rule Rescinding Greenhouse Gas Endangerment Finding
TRENTON – Senator Bob Smith (D-Middlesex/Somerset) issued the following statement on the Senate Environment and Energy Committee advancing SR-85:
“Last month, the federal government made the detrimental decision to repeal the legal basis for regulating greenhouse gases by rescinding its endangerment finding and erasing emission standards for vehicles. This is an enormous step back for the EPA and the entire country, as the decision ignores years and years of rock-solid scientific evidence that proves GHG emissions endanger the environment and human life.
This is a mistake that we absolutely cannot condone, and staying silent indicates our complicity towards the current administration’s dangerous and illogical policies. By advancing SR-85, we strongly condemn this ruling and assert that we will continue to fight for regulations backed by science to protect not only the environment but also the well-being of our residents.”
