Princeton University Students Rally for Campus Workers’ Rights

PRINCETON – Just as the Princeton University student center cafeteria began to close this afternoon, dozens of student protesters stampeded the area, led by a bullhorn-wielding activist, all of them demanding justice for Princeton University campus workers.

The Young Democratic Socialists of Princeton dubbed their protest “Students for Workers’ Rights.”

They said they demand that the university back-pay its workers who worked at any time on 2/9 and 3/14 during the snowstorms but did not receive overtime pay because their shifts did not fall within the “emergency period” of 5 a.m. and 5 p.m.

They also want that, in the cases of emergencies, the university to guarantee its workers comfortable, private accommodations in a hotel.
