NEWARK - "I'm heading over to the Elizabeth Detention Center to see if Martin [Soto] is there," Assemblywoman Annette Quijano (D-20) told InsiderNJ, "that everyone sees what is happening in this detention center and all the other ones."

An attorney, the daughter of immigrants and a veteran member of the New Jersey Legislature whose work includes reining in abuses by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Agency, Quijano implored people to wake up.

"This is not the America that we know," she said, "Where we're used to due process, treating people with humanity - and I want to remind everyone that we're all children and grandchildren of immigrants."
