They convened in the Ironbound this evening, those North Ward chieftains intent on staying involved in the Newark box-off elections in the East Ward, where they hope to help lift their friend, battered incumbent Councilman Augie Amador, off his stool for the championship rounds on June 12th.

Twenty-year council veteran Amador is trying to get past a game former Police Director/Chief Anthony Campos.

At an East Ward meeting tonight, among Amador’s allies committing to help roust votes for him was North Ward Councilman Anibal Ramos, Jr.

“[Councilman] Luis Quintana and I are helping the Sheriff [Armando Fontoura] for sure in our collective efforts to reelect Amador,” Ramos told InsiderNJ. “Augie is a friend and a good colleague.”
