Report: Ciattarelli To Run For Guv In 2021

Former EPA Regional Administrator Alan J. Steinberg argues that there is hope for the New Jersey Republican Party to capture the governorship in 2021 if former Assemblyman Jack Ciattarelli is the nominee, provided he can overcome the anti-Republican landscape prevailing in the Garden State.

Former GOP gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli says he’ll run for Governor again in 2021, according to this report.

Now retired from the Assembly, having opted against a re-election bid in LD16 (succeeded by Democrat Roy Freiman) to run in the GOP primary against eventual victor LG Kim Guadagno, Ciattarelli told the Associated Press that “if asked today, I’m running.”

Ciattarelli had considered the possibility of a Senate run against incumbent Senator Bob Menendez, and has been outspoken on what he has said is the need for NJ Republicans to ‘re-brand’ with ‘bold ideas’ and ‘a clear vision that appeals to all New Jerseysans’.

On Governor Murphy’s agenda, the former Assemblyman says, “he still hasn’t come to grips that his promises just aren’t realistic.”
