Garcia Appointed Acting Deputy Mayor and Director of Newark Economic Development Department

According to a report in the Hudson Reporter, former Assemblyman Carmelo Garcia of Hoboken has been appointed acting director of the Newark Economic Development Department.  He replaces Baye Adolfo Wilson, who resigned weeks ago.  

A report on Jersey Digs on the appointment references a City of Newark press release where Garcia is identified as the Deputy Mayor of Economic and Housing Development.  

A source inside City Hall confirmed the appointment to Insider NJ. 

Garcia, who served one term in the Assembly in LD33 from 2014-2016, previously served as the executive director of the Hoboken Housing Authority and Chief Real Estate Officer for the Newark Community Economic Development Authority.
