Report: Gilmore Ally Guardian Takes BA Position in Toms River

“Hurley in the Morning” learned and confirmed that outgoing Atlantic City Mayor Don Guardian has been offered the Business Administrators’ position with Toms River.

“My source further states that Guardian begins his new position beginning January 1, 2018 at a salary of $ 175,000,” Hurley said in a Facebook post. “His current Mayor’s salary is $ 103,000.”

Guardian will assume a position in the same county – Ocean – where former Paterson Mayor Jose “Joey” Torres worked (Jackson) as a business administrator. The connection is powerful Ocean County GOP Chairman George Gilmore, an ally of both Torres and Guardian.

Guardian released a statement confirming the new position, saying “although I will still be living in Atlantic City, I look forward to commuting each day to Toms River and bringing with me all the local government knowledge that I gained over the past four years as mayor and previous twenty years as director of the local business improvement district.  Serving the residents of Atlantic City has been my most fulfilling job ever.  Now, I look forward to bringing that same enthusiasm and love of municipal government to the residents of Toms River.”
