Rest in Peace, Paul J Sollami, Esq, Former Mercer County Freeholder

Mercer County Freeholder Sollami Covello

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I announce the passing of my father, former Mercer County Freeholder Paul Sollami, Jr. , who for 21 years (1970-1992) best exemplified what it means to be a public servant.

My father was a lifelong Trenton area attorney, an Administrative Law Judge, and was elected seven times to the Mercer County Freeholder Board, serving many years as Chair. While in office, he was instrumental in improving and expanding our Mercer County Park System and the County Community College, and Airport terminal, among his many contributions. He later served as Ewing Township Zoning Board Attorney for many years.

He began his pubic service early, being elected as class president every year from elementary school through his high school graduation year in 1949 from Trenton Central High School.  He was also class president at Villanova University where he earned his BA and also graduated from Georgetown University Law School with a JD.

In high school, he was a renowned athlete, an All-State football player and all-County baseball player. He also played on the Army baseball team before he was honorably discharged. He coached for many years for North Trenton Little League.

He truly enjoyed helping people and public service, but spending time with us, and his large extended family and friends, brought him the most joy.

My mother, Roseann Bruno Sollami was his beloved wife of 58 years. She, my sister, Maryann (Sollami) Montenegro and I, and our husbands and children, will miss him greatly.
