Reynolds-Jackson Endorses Benson for Mercer County Executive

In acknowledgement of Mercer County Executive Brian Hughes’ announcement to retire at the end of his term, Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds-Jackson (Mercer/Hunterdon) made the following statement today.

“Thank you, County Executive Brian Hughes, for your dedication and leadership to the people of Mercer County and New Jersey for the past 20+ years. Whether it was during my time as a Councilwoman in Trenton or as a member of the New Jersey General Assembly, I am proud of the work that we have been able to do together, and I know that his accomplishments will have positive outcomes for generations to come.”

“One of the benefits of living in a Democracy is the ability to have a clash of ideas and perspectives. We might not always agree initially but that’s the beauty of working things out and coming back together as one. I am proud to endorse Assemblyman Dan Benson to be our next Mercer County Executive. Having worked with Dan in the legislature on various initiatives and over the last couple of years on the Assembly Budget Committee, I know that he believes in workforce development and investing in people as I do. We must continue speaking up about Maternal Health, Social and Civil Rights, Environmental Justice, and Economic Opportunities. It’s time we focus on Dan Benson’s vision to build up our technical and vocational trade schools and higher education institutions. It’s time to move Mercer County forward together and I look forward to working with our future County Executive to do exactly that.”
