The entire New 29th Legislative District Team today united behind Mike Silva for Newark City Council (East Ward).

Senator & Majority Leader M. Teresa Ruiz & Assemblymembers Eliana Pintor Marin and Shanique Speight call Silva “A leader who has worked hard for his community his entire life”.

In a prepared statement released today, the 29th Legislative District Team announced their endorsement of Michael Silva, candidate for Newark City Council, representing the East Ward.

“As representatives of the 29th Legislative District, which includes Newark’s East Ward, we have fought for policy and resources that protect all of our families – including funding for school construction, prioritizing public safety, creating pathways to high growth sector job opportunities and consistently striving to improve the quality of life for all. For those reasons, we understand the importance of having a team representing every level of government that works together for the good of the community.

Growing up in the Ironbound district to immigrant parents and a graduate of the Police Academy, Mike Silva is a leader who has worked hard for his community his entire life – demanding the best for working families, seniors, Newark’s youth, and the homeless. As a community service detective for 18 years, he worked closely with local leaders to protect the East Ward’s neighborhoods.  He has been at the forefront of voluntary initiatives to help our homeless population and, as a cancer survivor, has worked to improve health care access for all.

We urge all voters in the East Ward to cast their vote for Michael Silva. He represents the best of public service: selfless, tireless, and always ready to help those in need.”
