Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz Endorses Brendan Gill

Today, Essex County Commissioner Brendan Gill, candidate for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, announced the endorsement of New Jersey Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz. Gill is running to succeed Governor-Elect Mikie Sherrill.

“As an Essex County Commissioner, Brendan has been a phenomenal partner in delivering for our constituents. From his partnership with the Greenway Project, to fighting for the people of New Jersey by making our roads safer for pedestrians, to ensuring our drinking water is clean, and to protecting every child’s right to a quality public education,” said Senate Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz. “I am proud to endorse Brendan for Congress, I’ve seen firsthand how he brings local, county, state, and national leaders together to deliver real results for our communities and I know he’ll continue this great work in Washington.”

“As the highest-ranking Latina legislator in New Jersey history, first Latina, and first Puerto Rican, to lead both the Assembly and Senate, Senator Ruiz has been a powerhouse in Trenton. Senator Ruiz has changed the lives of the women of New Jersey introducing, sponsoring, and passing bills that expand access to early childhood education throughout the state, creating the most comprehensive nurse visitation program for new mothers in the nation, and remove obstacles and provide support for women, people of color, who are pursuing roles in high-growth industries,” said Brendan Gill. “I am deeply humbled to receive the endorsement of my friend and colleague, Majority Leader Teresa Ruiz. Her no nonsense, solution driven approach to legislation inspires me and is the kind of pragmatism that I want to bring to Washington.”

With Senator Ruiz’s endorsement, Gill continues to consolidate strong support from leaders across Essex and Passaic Counties. His growing list of endorsements includes Senator Teresa Ruiz (LD-29), Senator John F. McKeon (LD-27), Senator Renee C. Burgess (LD-28), Senator Britnee N. Timberlake (LD-34), Assemblywoman Alixon Collazos-Gill (LD-27), Assemblyman Michael Venezia (LD-34), Assemblywoman Carmen Theresa Morales (LD-34), and Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter (LD-35)

Brendan Gill is an Essex County Commissioner, lifelong New Jerseyan, and former senior adviser to Governor Phil Murphy, Senator Cory Booker, Senator Frank Lautenberg, and Congressman Bill Pascrell. A proud Montclair native, Gill has spent his career fighting for working families, quality public education, and safe, vibrant communities. He is running for Congress in New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District to continue that fight in Washington.
