Senior Christie Official McDermott Joins Kaufman Zita Group as Senior VP

The Freeholder fight unites more than it delights.
Adam Kaufman and Patrizia (“Trish”) Zita, partners of Kaufman Zita Group, announced that Matt McDermott has joined Kaufman Zita Group. As Senior Vice President, McDermott will put his extensive background in government and public affairs to work in providing advocacy, strategic planning, and direct lobbying services to clients.
In welcoming him to the firm, Adam and Trish said, “Matt is widely recognized as a trustworthy, insightful and solutions-driven advisor, and we are excited about what he adds to our team. His experience managing and directing complex matters, as well as his extensive government process knowledge and high-level relationships with key decision makers, will be an invaluable resource to our clients.”
 
Prior to joining the Kaufman Zita Group, McDermot served in two administrations, including seven years as a senior staff member to Governor Chris Christie, and held senior leadership positions in four state departments.
 
Most recently, McDermott worked as the Assistant Commissioner for Government and Community Relations at the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Previously, he served in various roles including, Chief of Staff to Lieutenant Governor Kim Guadagno, Chief of Staff and Deputy Commissioner at the New Jersey Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Director of Appointments for Governor Chris Christie, and as Director of Communications for the New Jersey Department of Treasury. McDermott was also the Principal of McDermott Public Affairs, a successful full service public affairs consulting firm, from 2002-2010.
 
He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
