Sherrill Endorses the Reelection of Mayor Baraka

Governor Mikie Sherrill last year welcomed the general election endorsement of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and tonight at Saint James AME Church she repaid the trust with an endorsement of the mayor.

At this "Souls to the Polls Rally," Baraka also collected the formal endorsements of AME Reverend Pastor Ronald Slaughter and People's Organization for Progress Leader

Larry Hamm.

The citywide election is tomorrow.

"Tonight was critical considering the states' redistricting to silence the black voice and the Supreme Court gutting the Voting Rights Act," said the Rev. Pastor Slaughter. "Just about every movement for people of color had its genesis in the black church. The power of the black church is powerful enough to help our communities win even when others are determined to make us a permanent underclass. We win by exercising our right to vote, encouraging others to vote and registering new voters."
