Somerset County Democrats Select New Vice-Chair

Somerset County Democratic Chair Peg Schaffer announced Tuesday that she had selected Joseph DeMarco, a longtime party leader, and former Bernardsville councilman, to serve as interim Vice Chair of the party. Chairwoman Schaffer’s pick was approved unanimously by the Somerset County Democratic Executive Committee on Wednesday, September 28th. DeMarco replaces Zenon Christodoulou who resigned from the position to accept Governor Phil Murphy’s nomination to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities.

“Joe has been a significant part of the Somerset County Democrats’ surge over the past decade, serving as campaign manager and advisor in each of our wins since 2018,” said Schaffer. “I thank Zenon for his support and partnership over the past dozen years we’ve led the party, and look forward to continuing our success with Joe by my side.”

DeMarco is an attorney and partner at the law firm of Cleary Giacobbe Alfieri Jacobs, LLC serving New Jersey clients on land use issues, representing municipal governments as redevelopment counsel, and private clients in negotiations with public entities.
