Source: Horizon Restructuring Bill Dead in Democratic Caucus

TRENTON – The Democratic caucus just broke after a behind the scenes conversation wherein strong support for S-4 seemed either sparse or limited to South Jersey, a source told InsiderNJ.

But other sources remained on guard and quibbled with the “dead” description, noting that just when things appear settled, the momentum shifts again.

“I would say there are other options,” a source told InsiderNJ, when asked if the bill gave off little more than a life supported vibe post Democratic caucus.

There was no outraged and sustained cry over Speaker Vincent Prieto’s (D-32) opposition to the bill because opposition seems widespread, with most Republicans whom InsiderNJ spoke to this afternoon likewise resistant.

But it was volatile.

In its current form the Horizon restructuring bill looked dead, a source said, but the South and Middlesex appeared poised to vote no on the budget.
