Source: Mejia Mulling a Run in CD-11 Special Election

Self-described unrepentant progressive activist and organizer and "good troublemaker" Analilia Mejia of Glen Ridge is strongly mulling a run for the congressional seat of Governor-elect Mikie Sherrill in CD-11.
Co-Executive Director at the Center for Popular Democracy, Mejia is a seasoned political strategist and Afro-Latina grassroots organizer focused on helping Black and Latinx working families. She previously served as the Deputy Director of the Women’s Bureau at the Department of Labor under the Biden Administration.
Former executive director of the Working Families Alliance in New Jersey, former political director for SEIU 32BJ, Mejia served as political director for the 2020 Bernie Sanders Presidential Campaign.
An Elizabeth native, the daughter of immigrants, Mejia first started at the Working Families Alliance in 2014, quickly becoming one of the most influential progressive organizers in the state. In four plus years on the job, she defined herself as a fearless advocate.
During her time in New Jersey, the progressive leader addressed multiple worker and voter issues, including earned sick leave and voter right expansion.
