He’s consistently given her a big and friendly platform. They appear to get along.
Former Saturday Night Live Member Joe Piscopo
After flirting for months with his own guv run, he backed out last week and endorsed Guadagno.
Evesham Mayor Randy Brown
He bowed out of his own gubernatorial bid early to back Guadagno. A strong contender.
Bergen County GOP Fundraising Kingpin Chuck Shotmeyer
A source told InsiderNJ over the weekend that he’s out of the CD5 sweepstakes. Maybe Guadagno packages him as a running mate.
Assemblyman Jay Webber
An ally of Guadagno’s said the young conservative attorney and proven vote-getter is in the mix. Webber hasn’t endorsed in the gubernatorial primary, and doesn’t intend to, so his selection would likely occur in the name of symbolic party unity.
Assemblywoman Holly Schepisi
The Bergen County lawmaker never formally endorsed Ciattarelli, but she went to his campaign kickoff fundraiser and considers herself a longtime friend of the assemblyman.
Businessman Scott Sipprelle
Unlikely, because the former hedge funder might take Ciattarelli’s best argument against Murphy away, but Sipprelle did impress Chris Russell as a future party leader, and Russell strategizes for Ciattarelli.
Consider this, too – a source at this past weekend’s New Jersey Federation of Republican Women told InsiderNJ that Ciattarelli told this person that he would choose a woman as a running mate.
If so, perhaps an olive branch could reach…
Hamilton Mayor Kelly Yaede
A solid candidate for the job, she’s another long-shot,however, owing to the fact that she’s a big Guadagno backer.
Asked if either candidate might occupy the ticket of the other, one Republican said there’s no way. The campaigns are about to go scorched earth, and there won’t be any recovery in the aftermath, the source said.
That makes more likely:
Assemblywoman Maria Rodriguez-Gregg (pictured)
She backed fellow GOP caucus member Ciattarelli early, along with her chairman, BurlCo boss Bill Layton.
