Sweeney to Caucus: No Deal at Hand

Statehouse

TRENTON - The caucus room swallowed Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) where he delivered his report of his meeting with Governor Phil Murphy and Speaker Craig Coughlin to his members.

No deal.

The senate will vote now and break at 3 p.m. for - apparently - "further negotiations" with the Governor's Office, Sweeney informed his colleagues.

The senate will do non-budget bills until 3 p.m. then breaking.

Following caucus, Sweeney roamed back to his office, Senator Nick Scutari (D-22) on his heels.

Moments later, the Senate President occupied the chair of power, overseeing 40 senators in the chamber.

"The senate is now in session," Sweeney declared.
