Sweeney, Senators Head to the Caucus Room on Key Session Day

NJ's Senate Democratic Office responded to comments by Gov. Phil Murphy regarding cuts to the County College Opportunity Grant Program in the 2020 budget, saying that the claim is not supported by the facts.

TRENTON – There they went into the caucus chamber to consider the resolution on the powers of select committee on investigation examining the hiring practices of the Murphy Administration.

Senate President Steve Sweeney (D-3) led the way out of his office and through the senate gallery, accompanied by state Senate Majority Leader Loretta Weinberg (D-37), Senator M. Teresa Ruiz (D-29), Senator Sandra Cunningham (D-31) and Senator Nick Scutari (D-22).

“Joe and I are getting along fine,” said Scutari, smiling at the suggestion of ongoing friction behind the scenes in Union ahead of next year, a reference to state Senator Joe Cryan (D-20).

“It’s just like with the law, pray for peace and prepare for war, but leaders bring people together,” said the Union County Democratic Chair.

The two senators marched in a parade the other day, powwowed too.

The whole group disappeared behind closed doors.
