Montgomery Township Committeewoman Patricia Taylor Todd Esq. has removed her name from consideration to replace Assemblywoman Sadaf Jaffer as the Democratic candidate for New Jersey’s 16th Legislative District. Todd was one of several potential candidates to go through the candidate screening process in Somerset County.

“While Committeewoman Todd would have made a great candidate in LD16 this year, the other potential candidates we met are also well-qualified, talented people who are more than capable of winning this assembly seat,” said Somerset County Democratic Chair Peg Schaffer as Somerset continues to search for its preferred nominee ahead of the county’s nominating convention in March.

Todd will instead spend 2023 campaigning for the Montgomery Township Committee seat she was appointed to towards the end of 2022. “It was an honor to be considered for the Democratic nomination in LD16. I look forward to supporting the eventual nominee in my capacity as a candidate for local office in the 16th District and I will work hard to support Democratic victories up and down the ballot,” said Committeewoman Todd.

The Somerset County Democratic Committee has yet to make a formal endorsement of any candidate to run in place of Assemblywoman Jaffer in 2023, and the committee will make its decision after a nominating convention on the 15th of March.
