They All Had a Wonderful Time
The cost was a mere $30 per person – and only $15 for county committee members – but Morris County Republicans expressed delight Wednesday at how successful Tuesday’s “Unity Breakfast” was.
“With over 250 energized Morris County Republicans in attendance, the …. breakfast was a huge success,” the county Republican committee said in a statement, adding that the event turned a profit of about $4.400,
Some may see that as chump change, but – again, the cost was only $30 a person.
Far more important than money in this case was the goal of the breakfast and its guest speaker, former governor Chris Christie.
Christie, whose speech was very well received, stressed that nasty primaries are common, but that when they’re over, all party leaders must support the winners.
Whether that happens remains to be seen.
Emotions are still raw, not only because of contested primaries for freeholder and congress, but because of an acrimonious battle for party chair between Ronald DeFilippis and Robert Zwigard. DeFilippis won by four votes.
