Tight Race in Atlanta After First Ballot Democratic Committee Voting

In Atlanta after first ballot voting by the Democratic National Committee, former Labor Secretary Tom Perez had 213.5 votes and U.S. Rep. Keith Ellison had 200 votes.

The pair are competing to succeed Donna Brazile as chair of the national party.

Brazile replaced U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fl.) last year after Wasserman Schultz left the post in disgrace.

On the first ballot, South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg – who dropped out of the race earlier today – received one vote.

Update: After the second ballot, it will be a majority plus one vote for the ballgame.
