Turner Urges NJ Transit and Labor Back to the Negotiating Table

Turner
TRENTON – Senator Shirley K. Turner (D-Mercer/Hunterdon) issued the following statement in response to the NJ Transit strike:

“The NJ TRANSIT strike is deeply concerning and is already having a serious impact on working families across New Jersey. Thousands of residents are facing significant challenges getting to work, attending medical appointments, and maintaining the income they rely on.

"No one should be placed in a position where basic daily needs become so difficult to meet. Reliable public transportation is a lifeline for many in our communities, and we must do everything we can to protect it. I urge NJ TRANSIT and the locomotive engineers’ union to come back to the negotiating table as soon as possible. A fair and timely resolution is in the best interest of both the workers and the riders. New Jerseyans are counting on all sides to act with urgency, compassion, and a shared commitment to the public good.”
