Van Drew Unleashes on the New Jersey Statehouse

U.S. Rep. Jeff Van Drew (R-2), who has twice now called on the New Jersey state legislature to reject a multi-billion-dollar taxpayer-funded bailout of greedy foreign energy companies, hammered home his opposition to A-5651 & S-4019 ahead of the final Senate and Assembly votes.

“Installing hundreds of thousand-foot-tall wind turbines over millions of acres with flashing lights on top will forever transform and industrialize our coastline on a scale you could have never even imagined,” said Van Drew, a former Assemblyman and state Senator.

“We know that our marine mammals are washing ashore and dying at alarming if not record rates. We know that you won’t just be able to see these offshore wind turbines, but they’ll be close enough that you’ll actually be able to hear them. We know that our recreational and commercial fishing industries will be decimated and that our economy stands to lose BILLIONS upon BILLIONS of dollars a year from Cape May all the way up to Sandy Hook. We know that the Pentagon has serious navigational and national security concerns with these offshore wind farms.

“We know that whatever energy actually is generated off our coast will be controlled by foreign governments. We know that utility bills across our state are going to skyrocket and then, to add insult to injury, we’re going to as a result of this legislation send the money intended to mitigate the impact of those rate increases on working families in New Jersey overseas to subsidize the harm being inflicted upon us by greedy foreign owned energy companies. You don’t get to punch the people of New Jersey in the face and then expect us to say thank you for it!”

NJ Spotlight wrote about the bill:

“Ørsted’s bid to obtain lucrative federal tax credits to fend off mounting challenges in building New Jersey’s first offshore wind farm moved forward under legislation approved by lawmakers Tuesday as they cleared bills ahead of this week’s deadline for a new state budget.

“But the bill was amended by a Senate committee, requiring its Assembly counterpart to go along with the changes at another meeting planned for Wednesday. The imminent passage was hailed early Tuesday evening by Tim Sullivan, CEO of the Economic Development Authority, who called the offshore-wind sector the biggest single net economic opportunity in New Jersey.

“After a six-hour meeting, the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee voted out an amended version of the bill despite criticism that it would end up boosting the Danish energy company’s profits at the expense of utility customers.”

  1. Phil Murphy is a corrupt scumbag who doesn’t care about the people of New Jersey or all of the effects these turbines will have on marine life the commercial fisherman or the average joe who just wants to go the the beach. And our electric infrastructure isn’t even able to handle what they generate. A big mo way grab as usual. I think they want us to be just like California, sitting in the dark. Fuk Phil Murphy.

  2. What is wrong with the leaders of our State and country. Do you enjoy exploiting the American taxpayer. Ultimately that is your goal and plan. You will never break us or control us. You are haters if this great country. Your only concern is your own pockets. You are corrupt. Shame on all of you.

  3. There’s very little that is truthful in this statement. The turbines are not causing whale deaths, ship strikes are. You can tell since so many wash up with their stomachs expelled from the impact. Plus, YOU CAN HEAR TURBINES FROM 13 NAUTICAL MILES??? You must be hearing all sorts of great things from me after all your office is only 5 miles away!

  4. No one really cares what Mr. MAGA has to say. This guy has turned his back on the veterans and seniors in his District so he is looking for a ” fake” story to grab. He cares about the whales as much as he cares about the veterans when he voted against the Burn Pit Bill. Van Drew cares about van Drew.

  5. Jeff Van Drew is doing the bidding of the fossil fuel industry. He turned his back on the people of Cape May County, in general and the veterans in particular. His Congressional Hearing in Wildwood last March was a sham, one witness represented a group funded by the fossil fuel industry. Give us all a break, Jeff… Donnie needs your help, not the whales.

  6. Sue your an idiot! The sea life has been washing up on shore right after these sonar readings started. The whales had propeller gashes on them because they were already dead. You say you care about the environment but in the end your doing far more damage. The hate for Trump turns people into brain dead morons

  7. To all you geniuses and idiots out there the best solution to our energy issues? Is nuclear . stop being stupid, ignorant and just plain dumb. OK and fossil fuels is made up. The oil in the ground is continuously being made. Because we would’ve ran out by now, according to all of you So called experts. Like all the ice Melting and the ozone layer. Well the whole repair itself and the ice caps are still there.

  8. Vote against this .let them put them on the landfills.its a waste of taxpayer money they can’t even maintain the roads and highways so let’s add more that needs mantanence. Vote no..

  9. Ray Sylvester get educated. Keep drinking the kool-aid.
Wind turbines are not the killer of whales. Ships are and fishing boats.
