War Memorial Murphy Swearing-in: Former Mayor Sharpe James is in the House

TRENTON – Sharpe James, the former Newark Mayor packed off to prison on corruption charges by Governor Chris Christie when Christie was U.S. Attorney, showed up at the War Memorial this afternoon for the inaugural ceremony of Governor Phil Murphy.

James, who did time on corruption charges, presented his ticket with aplomb and walked in the front door.

*Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this story said Mayor James backs Chaneyfield Jenkins for mayor, but, in fact, he has not made any public endorsement. InsiderNJ regrets the error.
