Following the news of Congressman Rodney Frelinghuysen’s retirement today, Mikie Sherrill, Democratic candidate for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District, announced that she brought in $486,155.68 in the fourth quarter of 2017, having raised $1,230,669.73 in the seven months since she declared her candidacy.

“The energy that is present in the 11th district is like nothing I’ve seen before,” former Navy helicopter pilot Sherrill said in a statement. “To have this kind of support from friends and neighbors across the district and the country is extremely humbling. From 15,000 people marching on the Morristown Green at the Women’s March, to meeting residents at diners across the district, it is clear that we are ready for new representation in Washington.”

A former federal prosecutor and mother of four, Sherrill began 2018 with $821,786.33 cash on hand and 4,896 individual donors.

She has received the endorsement of all four Democratic county chairs in the 11th District: Morris, Essex, Passaic, and Sussex Counties. Twenty-three Morris County elected officials and municipal chairs also announced their endorsement of Sherrill. She has the support of former New Jersey Governor Richard Codey, Assemblywoman Mila Jasey, Woodland Park Mayor Keith Kazmark, the Woodland Park Council, Parsippany Mayor Michael Soriano, Parsippany Councilwomen Janice McCarthy and Emily Peterson, gubernatorial candidate Jim Johnson, and the LD-25 slate of Lisa Bhimani, Richard Corcoran, and Tom Moran.

The candidate has also earned endorsements from national groups like EMILY’s List, VoteVets, End Citizens United, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand’s Off the Sidelines, Congresswoman Gabby Giffords’ Giffords Group, Congressman Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, New Politics, and Feminist Majority. In January, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee named Sherrill to their “Red to Blue” program, making the 11th District a top target for Democrats in 2018.
