News of the retirement of Assemblyman David Wolfe (R-10) summoned speculation about his replacement.

A well-heeled Ocean County source offered the following:

“I wouldn’t be shocked if it’s John Catalano out of Brick. However, if [Ocean County GOP Chairman George] Gilmore works out a deal to give the seat to Mo Hill, that might help avoid a mess in Toms River.”

Retired from the U.S. Navy as a rear admiral, Hill is a Toms River councilman whose name has long been in the mix for promotion. Catalano is a Brick Councilman.
