Bayonne Mayor Davis: Third COVID-19 Fatality on Monday

Davis

Message from Bayonne Mayor Jimmy Davis:

‘As we have been discussing lately, the number of positive cases of Coronavirus continue to rise.  Unfortunately, the vulnerable among us are hardest hit.  Today, another Bayonne resident passed away from this illness.  An 80 year-old woman lost her fight.  We express our deepest sorrow to her family.  It breaks our heart to see this loss in our community.

As more people get tested, the experts say we will continue to see positive COVID-19 cases rise, and we must continue to help slow its spread.  Conversely, we are seeing most residents recovering well at home and we are also seeing fully recovered neighbors come off the list.  This is good news!

If we follow the directives to stay at home unless absolutely necessary, we are helping to stop the spread.  We need to reduce our time out of the house, because each time we go out, separations are harder to maintain.  PLEASE USE COMMON SENSE, GOOD HYGIENE, and SAFE PRACTICES.

If you follow these directives, your chances of contracting the virus is reduced considerably.  If you do become ill, follow your doctor’s instructions in regards to self-isolation and treatment.

OEM will continue to provide updates to you each day.  Pray for the families of those lost and suffering from this illness.  I am praying for all of us, and I’m absolutely certain that we will get through this together! #BayonneStrong #WeAreBayonne’

Mayor Davis has instructed OEM to keep residents informed on all the latest information related to this health emergency.

One response to “Bayonne Mayor Davis: Third COVID-19 Fatality on Monday”

  1. With three deaths in Bayonne, NJ and 103 confirmed positive cases of Covid19 in Bayonne, NJ, Bayonne has the audacity to make public forum while there is discrimination among Bayonne residents for Covid19 testing.
Care Point HEALTHCARE is allowing only Care Point HEALTHCARE patients and Doctors to get Covid19 testing amidst the worldwide pandemic.
The ethics of Care Point HEALTHCARE in their discrimination against Bayonne residents need be taken into account during this time. No Bayonne resident should have to leave their city of Bayonne and get Covid19 tested elsewhere. Seniors, especially Seniors and the disabled, have the right with need, to be tested in Bayonne where they live.
In a CRISIS OF SUCH SERIOUS MAGNITUDE Care Point HEALTHCARE should be ashamed of their decision to discriminate, serving their own purposes and negating the cause of others. Does this contradiction in health terms stand privy against those lives in Bayonne lost to Covid19? Or against the 103 persons in Bayonne who now have Covid19?
This discriminatory approach to Covid19 testing, by Care Point HEALTHCARE, holds serious implications, not withstanding ethical, towards all who contribute to the enforcement of discrimination in public health against Bayonne residents.
