Zwicker, Freiman, and Drulis Announce New Parks Funding for South Brunswick from FY27 State Budget

South Brunswick, NJ - The Senate and Assembly representatives of the 16th Legislative District joined South Brunswick Mayor Charley Carley, Deputy Mayor Ken Bierman, and council members Archana “Ann” Grover and Patty Germain yesterday to announce $500,000 in new funding for improvements and repairs to the Woodlot Park Tennis Courts in Monmouth Junction. This budget resolution, sponsored by Assemblywoman Mitchelle Drulis and co-sponsored by Senator Andrew Zwicker and Assemblyman Roy Freiman, will contribute to the rehabilitation of the Tennis and Pickleball courts at Woodlot Park, which have fallen into disrepair due to poor soil conditions.

“When families have quality spaces they can use without added costs, it strengthens our community and makes South Brunswick more affordable,” said Assemblywoman Drulis. “Whenever we invest in resources that make life easier for our residents, it’s a good day in Trenton. I look forward to returning to Woodlot Park soon to see how these improvements bring neighbors together.”

“Securing state funding for projects that directly benefit our local community is one of the most important ways we can invest in South Brunswick,” said Senator Zwicker. “This $500,000 investment will help address the challenges caused by poor soil conditions, fix up the Woodlot Park tennis and pickleball courts, and ensure this community space remains safe, accessible, and well-maintained. By investing in these improvements, we are not only supporting recreation but also helping preserve and responsibly maintain one of our community’s most necessary green spaces for years to come.”

I’m proud we were able to secure this funding and help South Brunswick move these improvements forward.”

Township Administrator Bryan Bidlack, Recreation Director Amanda Applegate, Deputy Director of Public Works Bill Epps, and Public Affairs Coordinator Jennifer Poppy were also in attendance along with constituent Nancy Bruneau, who was a strong advocate for the project.

This budget resolution is one of more than a dozen community projects across the 16th district receiving funding from this year’s state budget, providing support to local governments, first responders, food pantries, and more.
