CWA District 1 Announces Full Slate of 2025 NJ General Assembly Endorsements, Building on Pro-Worker Momentum

New Jersey – Following its early endorsement of Democratic nominee Mikie Sherrill for New Jersey Governor, Communications Workers of America (CWA) District 1 today announced its comprehensive general election Assembly endorsements. The union, representing over 70,000 public and private sector workers, is throwing its support behind candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to fighting for affordable healthcare, protecting pensions, and upholding the dignity of work.
“Our fight to protect state workers from devastating healthcare hikes showed that when we stand together, we win. But that victory was just the beginning,” said Dennis Trainor, Vice President of CWA District 1. “To secure a future where all public employees are treated with respect, we need a legislature that stands with us. These endorsed candidates understand the challenges facing working families and are ready to deliver real solutions in Trenton.”
The endorsements reflect a strategic effort to elect champions for working people across the state, from the shoreline to the suburbs. CWA’s decision-making process focused on candidates’ records and commitments on key issues such as controlling the skyrocketing costs of healthcare, expanding collective bargaining rights, and ensuring retirement security.
“We are endorsing a movement, not just a list of names,” said Billy Gallagher, Assistant to the Vice President of CWA District 1. “From Mikie Sherrill at the top of the ticket to every Assembly candidate on this list, we are building a coalition dedicated to empowering New Jersey’s working families. Our members will be out in force to ensure these pro-labor voices are elected.”
CWA District 1 is known for its powerful, member-driven political program. The union’s endorsement signals a major mobilization effort for the Governor’s race and down-ballot, including door-knocking, phone banking and member-to-member communication to turn out the vote.
