Former Assistant Secretary of State to Kerry, Malinowski Surfaces as Dem Challenger in CD7

Yet another Democratic candidate has emerged in an overcrowded CD7, according to a Democratic Party source – this one a Washington-level foreign policy expert with Central Jersey roots.

The newest hopeful to challenge U.S. Rep. Leonard Lance (R-7) next year is Tom Malinowski, former Assistant Secretary of State to John Kerry and director for Human Rights Watch. Malinowski also worked in the Clinton White House on the National Security Council and for Secretaries of State Warren Christopher and Madeline Albright.

Born in Poland and raised in Princeton, Malinowski graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and was a Rhodes scholar at Oxford. He joins a very crowded field of Dems interested in taking out Lance next year.

UPDATE: For a press release on his candidacy, please see here. His campaign told InsiderNJ the candidate lives in Rocky Hill – a recent move back to NJ.
