Gen Z for New Jersey Launches to Empower Young Political Leaders

A new fundraising political action committee, Gen Z for New Jersey, has launched with a bold mission: to energize and empower young leaders across New Jersey to run for office, fund their campaigns, and bring fresh, innovative ideas to local and state government. This PAC is committed to addressing the pressing need for generational representation in political leadership, ensuring that the voices and visions of younger New Jerseyans are heard and prioritized in shaping the state’s future.

The flagship board of trustees includes established players in statewide politics: Ben Dziobek, Kayleigh Lavornia, Shayla Nunn and Sunni Vargas.

“If this year’s election cycle has shown us anything, it is that we need to have a national conversation about how to usher in a new wave of young leadership”, said Ben Dziobek. “There are over one million new voters this year – majority Gen Z – and millions more aging into voter eligibility. New Jersey needs to establish support early on for the next generation that is stepping up and running for office, to ensure Gen Z has a seat at that table.”

“No matter what age, taking the leap and deciding to run for something is a huge and sometimes daunting undertaking”, said Shayla Nunn. “We want to serve as a resource so Gen Z candidates have a place to go to get their start and find their footing.”

“This is more than just politics; it’s a movement for generational empowerment,” said Kayleigh Lavornia. “We’re bringing together young leaders, activists, and everyday people to amplify our voices and make a real impact on our state’s future.”

“Our generation is already taking steps to lead the charge in fixing the climate crisis, protecting our democracy, and safeguarding access to essential healthcare”, said Sunni Vargas. “Supporting Gen Z candidates means supporting the future of our state, and we’re here to do just that.”
