Hunterdon Dems Vote in a Successor to Malinowski

Hunterdon Democrats today chose as chairman of their party Michael Drulis, to succeed Tom Malinowski.
They also elected Michele Liebtag as vice chair.
Drulis won with 63% (94-55) of the vote over Khush Pall.
Liebtag won unanimously after the vice chair dropped out.
Drulis won the seat vacated by Malinowski, the former CD-7 Congressman now running for a vacant seat in CD-11.

Hunterdon County Democratic Committee Elects Michael Drulis as Chair and Michele Liebtag as Vice Chair
FLEMINGTON, N.J. — The Hunterdon County Democratic Committee elected Michael Drulis of Raritan Township as its new County Chair and Michele Liebtag of Frenchtown as Vice Chair during a special meeting held this afternoon at the Stangl Factory in Flemington.
Michael Drulis won the election against State Committee Representative Khushwant Pall by 63.9% to 36.91%. Michele Liebtag was subsequently elected Vice Chair by a consensus voice vote.
The convention was presided over by Interim Chair Janice Kovach of Clinton, with Dante DiPirro of East Amwell serving as parliamentarian and overseeing the election process. Committee members from municipalities across Hunterdon County cast their votes to select the new leadership team.
Following the announcement of results, Drulis and Liebtag thanked the committee for a successful 2025 and emphasized the work that lay ahead.
“We want to thank our local county committee members and army of volunteers for delivering incredible grassroots support wins from Governor-Elect Sherrill all the way through our local candidates. Hunterdon’s blue tide is rising and our HCDC will continue to build momentum for the races ahead,” said Michael Drulis and Michele Liebtag. “Thank you to the committee members for their support as well as the many elected leaders from Hunterdon county who endorsed us and believe in our vision. There is a great deal of work ahead for 2026. Our focus now is on building consensus and driving our party forward during this critical time in our country. The road to the house majority runs through Hunterdon.”
With a unified purpose, HCDC will shift toward organizing for the 2026 cycle, expanding volunteer engagement, and deepening partnerships with local communities.
