Assemblyman Joe Danielsen (D-17), a U.S. Army veteran, issued the following statement regarding the Trump-incited mob storming of the U.S. Capitol on Wednesday:

“As the chairman of the Assembly Oversight, Reform and Federal Relations Committee, as well as a former member of our armed services, I took an oath to preserve and protect our nation and its Constitution. The actions yesterday in our nation’s capital was a lawless and a seditious act by terrorists who defiled the sanctity of our halls of democracy.  For too long, too many ignored the warning signs and the failure therefore must be a shared blame.  Words in fact matter and lies do have consequences.  I call on our citizens to pray for our nation’s healing and to respect the rule of law.  Without these values, we lessen ourselves, our nation and our democratic principles.”
