LaPlaca and Natale Win BurlCo Dems’ Support for Assembly Bids in LD8

The Burlington County Democrats tonight unanimously endorsed Gina LaPlaca and Mark Natale to run as their candidates for the Democratic nomination in LD8.

The pair want to run in the general election against Assemblyman Ryan Peters (R-8) and retiring Sheriff Jean Stanfield.

InsiderNJ first reported on attorneys LaPlaca and Natale emergent as the BurlCo Democrats’ choices to run in the battleground district here.

BurlCo Dems also endorsed Anthony Basantis for sheriff.

A sheriff’s officer, Basantis earlier this week beat Police Chief Scott Pearlman of Palmyra for the screening committee nod.

Tonight, the full organization signed off.

As first reported by InsiderNJ, the GOP have positioned Mike Ditzel as their sheriff’s candidate this year, the replacement for retiring Sheriff Jean Stanfield.

LaPlaca emerged as a strong Democratic alternative in this district where Democrats want to pick off a seat after she lost a bid earlier this year to fill a freeholder vacancy.
