LD26 Flashpoint: Cesaro Returns Fire at DeCroce

Irritated by Assemblywoman Betty Lou DeCroce’s (R-26) attack earlier today, Morris County Freeholder John Cesaro dismissed it as the handiwork of a gas tax-encumbered incumbent who’s desperate to change the conversation.

“It was a clerical error and it was 100% fixed,” Cesaro told InsiderNJ. “I spoke to the people down at the organization as soon as I found out about this, and as of this afternoon, the problem was resolved. I want to thank my opponent for bringing it to my attention.”

But Cesaro, who’s challenging DeCroce in the June 6th Republican Primary, said the assemblywoman’s fixation on his professional career amounts to little more than a distraction.

“She wants to change the conversation from her vote with the Democrats on a gas tax increase,” Cesaro explained.

The freeholder is running in a four-person race that consists of himself, fellow Freeholder Hank Lyon, and incumbents DeCroce and Jay Webber.

Both Lyon and Cesaro see DeCroce as the weak, soft underbelly of the Webber-DeCroce tandem based on her support for the tax in question.

Like the assemblywoman, Cesaro hails from Parsippany, where’s he’s a proven tough-weather winner.

“As I’ve said, going back to my successful 2015 reelection campaign, I’m very confident,” the freeholder told InsiderNJ. “I’m very strong in those towns that are in the 26th District.”
