In Paterson, Ruby Cotton Voted Council President

While all eyes are on Trenton today as the Legislature scrambles to resolve the budget impasse and end the resulting government shutdown, the City of Paterson’s City Council held its re-organization at 12pm this afternoon and voted for a new Council President.  The 4th Ward’s Ruby Cotton won 5-4, with Councilman Luis Velez’s vote flipping to Cotton from Councilwoman-at-Large Maritza Davila, who was also seeking the top seat on the dais.  Velez, who represents the 5th Ward, was voted Vice President.
